Balochistan government striving to improve health facilities: minister

QUETTA: The Balochistan government is keen on providing best medical facilities to all for which it is equipping hospitals with the required machinery and equipment, says provincial Health Minister Mir Majid Abro.

Addressing a ceremony organised by the National Programme for Family and Primary Healthcare on Tuesday, he said: “Balochistan is the first province which has 7,500 permanent lady health workers who are helping in improving the health of mothers and children."

The minister said the Primary Health Programme would help in improving the health facilities. He said the government would provide all possible resources to make lady health workers able in carrying out their duties efficiently.

Mr Abro urged the lady health workers to play their role in providing best health services to people.

“Lady health workers have always served the province bravely and have scarified their lives in the line of duty,” he said, adding that the government would provide security to them.

He said Rs1.43 billion had been issued for lady health workers after the apex court’s orders, and that they were also being provided medicines, kits and vehicles. He said more workers would be inducted in the health department for improving the facilities.

Among those who attended the programme included Additional Secretary Health Abdul Rauf Baloch and Coordinator Programme Dr Sami Ullah.
