SIALKOT, May 13: Traffic was thrown out of gear near Lorry Adda in Sambrial for three hours to protest the killing of a retired inspector’s son and injuring his two other sons on Thursday in Karrowal-Uggoki village. Dozens of relatives of deceased Naseem, the son of Rana Ashiq, also staged a demonstration on Sialkot-Sambrial-Wazirabad Road and chanted slogans against the police.

The protesters told reporters that their rivals had already killed a son of Rana Ashiq about a year ago and since then these proclaimed offenders had been threatening them with dire consequences.

They said the matter was repeatedly brought to the notice of Sambrial and Daska police for providing them security and the arrest of killers, but to no avail.

Meanwhile, police high-ups reached the spot and assured the protesters of the early arrest of the killers. At this, the protesters dispersed and traffic was restored.

Uggoki police on Friday registered a murder case against 25 nominated and unidentified accused.

Naseem was laid to rest in his native graveyard at Sambrial amid tight security. The condition of Usman and Arif was stated to be critical at Allama Iqbal Memorial Hospital.
