Eight artists explore ‘contemporary landscapes’
LAHORE: A group show of landscapes titled ‘Contemporary Landscapes’ featuring the works of eight artists opened at Ocean Art Gallery Raja Centre on Thursday.
The works of AQ Arif, Abid Muhammad Khan, Chitra Pritam, Muhammad Arshad, Mughees Riaz, Nazir Ahmed, Salman Farooqi and Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi has been put on display. A good number of artists, students from different visual art institutions and art loves attend the exhibition.
Artist Arshad works in detail on forests and places where Nature shows its glory. He told Dawn that his landscapes highlighted the forest life and birds.
“I’ve made these paintings while capturing autumn,” said Arshad, adding that birds and overall components of a forest had obviously been painted by him while painting a landscape.
Abid Khan, who has done works based on impressionism, said he through his artworks wished to take the people away from the noisy urban life to quiet gardens and parks, on the banks of river or lakes.
“While painting Nature I focus on the peace and beauty of parks and lush green areas,” he said.
exhibition: A solo exhibition of paintings titled ‘Nature always wears the colour of the spirit’, by Dr Masoom Abbas will open on Feb 19 (Monday) at Shakir Ali Museum.
Lahore College for Women University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Uzma Qureshi will be the chief guest on the occasion.
The exhibition has been curated by Director Shakir Ali Museum Amna Pataudi and Co-curator Hira Siddiqui.
The event has been organised by Pakistan National Council of Arts, Ministry of Information, Broadcasting, National History and Literary Heritage.
Another exhibition titled ‘Variegated reflection of cities’, a group show featuring artworks of seven artists, will open at Ejaz Art Gallery on Friday (today).
