Rs250m for gas supply to towns

MANDI BAHAUDDIN, May 10: The Punjab government has released a sum of Rs250 million for early provision of gas to four towns. This was said by PML MNA Ijaz Chaudhry while talking to a delegation at his residence here on Tuesday. He said Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi had ordered provision of gas to Phalia, Mangat, Parianwali and Ladher towns.

Mr Chaudhry said Rs40 million had been spent on electrification of 60 villages in NA-108 during the current fiscal year and nine telephone exchanges would be set up at a cost of Rs45 million soon.

SPECIAL CHILDREN: More than 1,600 special children have been registered in the district while special education centres have been established at MBDin and Phalia.

Speaking at a ceremony here on Tuesday, Mandi Bahauddin special education centre principal Hafeez Anwar said the Punjab government had provided two school buses for children.

On this occasion, district steering committee chairman MPA Riaz Asghar said the provincial government had raised special education budget from Rs2.2 million to Rs40 million.

He said Rs200 scholarship to each student along with free education and books would be provided at these centres while 2.2 per cent employment quota for special children had been allocated.
