ASI shot dead by alleged dacoits

BAHAWALNAGAR, May 10: An assistant sub-inspector was shot dead allegedly by two dacoits in the Chishtian area here on Monday night. ASI Hanif was on patrol duty when he signalled two motorcyclists to stop, but they fled. When the ASI chased them, they shot him dead.

Police claimed that the accused later identified as Munir and Salim were wanted in more than 10 cases of murder and dacoity.

The funeral prayers for ASI Hanif were offered in the District Police Lines. A large number of people from all walks of life attended his funeral. Later, his body was sent to his native village 294-HR for burial.
