KARACHI, May 8: Two persons, including a former policeman, were shot dead in different parts of the city on Sunday. In F.B. Area, former inspector Javed Anjum was killed by an unknown persons on Sunday. Police said that Javed Anjum was at his auto workshop, located at Saghir Centre, where three persons on a motorcycle pulled up and opened fire. The victim was rushed to a nearby private hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. Later, police shifted his body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.
Police are investigating the case, but could not immediately come up with a motive.
Police said that former inspector Javed Anjum was a member of investigation team in Hakim Said murder case. He was recently retired following which he had opened an auto workshop.
In Manghopir, a woman was going along with her son when their car was fired upon.
Police said that Rani, 40, suffered bullet injuries and was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where she succumbed to her wounds during treatment. She was a resident of Ornagi’s Sector 7-E. On complaint of her son, police registered an FIR.
ACCIDENT: A pedestrian was knocked down to death on New M.A. Jinnah Road late on Saturday night.
Jamshed Quarters police said that unknown pedestrian in his mid 30’s was hit by a speeding vehicle in front of Islamia College. Police shifted the body to the Civil Hospital for legal formalities.
ARREST: An absconding suspect in the murder case was arrested on Sunday morning by Aziz Bhatti police.
Police said that Saleem Dad had killed Kaleem Ahmed and wounded Nisar Ahmed over some petty matter in Shanti Nagar on May 18, 2002. On a tip-off, a police team headed by ASI Tauseef Khan raided a house in Dalmia colony and arrested the alleged killer Saleem Dad. Later, he was handed over to the investigation wing for interrogation.
