KARACHI: IT sector to attract $50m investment, says minister

KARACHI, May 8: An investment of US$50 million is expected in the IT sector during the next six months in the wake of a conference on “Call Centre Investment Opportunities” held here on Saturday. This was stated by Sindh Minister for Information Technology Syed Mustafa Kamal while talking to APP on Sunday.

He was optimistic that the day-long moot, held under the auspices of the Sindh Information Technology Department, would pave the way for laying the sound foundation for the call centre industry.

Mustafa Kamal believed that about 2000 call centres would be set up in Karachi and other parts of the province within a year. He pointed out that the pioneer of the call centre in the world, Gurujot Singh Khalsa, was invited by the IT department to share his experiences with the participants of the moot. Mr Khalsa, who is the president of the US-based firm Worldbridge Connect, was the keynote speaker at the conference.—APP
