Lake water to be released into Indus

DADU, May 4: A committee set up by the Sindh Government has decided to release water from the Manchhar Lake into the Indus River through the Aral Wah near Sehwan from 2pm on Thursday. A meeting of the committee held in Jamshoro on Wednesday decided that the water release ration would be 1:30.

The committee would report daily developments to the DCO of Dadu, who is chairman of the committee. Currently the water level at Manchhar is 109.7 feet which would be reduced to 105 feet to ward off any danger to the embankments of the Manchhar.

The chairman of the committee said that power generating units in Jamshoro had been told to stop discharge of the polluted water into the Indus.
