ABBOTTABAD, May 3: Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Amanullah Khan Jadoon said on Tuesday that gas projects costing Rs950 million would be completed in the NWFP and 50,000 new gas connections to the domestic consumers would be provided during the current year.
He was inaugurating projects of Rs7 million for supply of gas to the remote towns of Sumaisar, Abdal and Mandrooch, about 25 kms from here.
Earlier, addressing a public meeting, the minister said the government was striving to provide basic amenities to masses living in remote and less developed areas.
He said socio-economic development project would bring a revolutionary change in the lifestyle of the people and remove sense of deprivation among.
The minister called upon people to forge unity in their ranks and cooperate with the government in its endeavours for the speedy completion of development projects.
The minister said the government was giving priority to the speedy promotion of oil, gas and mineral sectors in order to put the country on the road to self-reliance in these fields.
On the occasion, Member of NWFP Assembly, Haji Qalandar Khan Lodhi elaborated the development schemes being completed in these towns like upgradation of educational institutions, healthcare facilities and drinking water.
He said the government was giving special attention to provide basic facilities of life to the people at their doorstep in order to help improve their living standards.
