KARACHI: Pakistan junior women’s softball team will visit Malaysia early next year to play a series of matches in Kuala Lumpur.

This was announced by Secretary General of Softball Federation of Pakistan (SFP), Asif Azeem, during a meeting with the Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Sindh, Dr. Niaz Ali Abbasi, here on Friday.

“The tour would help in international exposure as well as honing of the abilities of our women players,” Asif further pointed out.

Dr. Abbasi said that there exists a lot of interest among our youngsters, especially girls, for the game of softball.

He stated that the policy of the provincial government is the uniform promotion of sports in every district of Sindh and appropriate steps are being taken in this regard.

Efforts are also being made to promote new talent so that they could excel in the competitions at the national as well as international levels.

Asif informed that SFP would organize a softball training and refresher course to be conducted next month in Hyderabad in collaboration with the Essa Laboratories.

Abbasi lauded the efforts of the SFP towards the promotion of the game as well as the talent hunt drive in the country. A programme is also being chalked out for winter training camp for boys and girls under 15 years of age next month.
