ISLAMABAD, Aug 27: Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) on Wednesday again warned the students and parents against getting admission in the medical colleges not recognised by the Council.

The Council issued the new warning after taking serious notice of the mushrooming of medical colleges both in the public and private sector and their admission advertisements in the press.

During its 100th session, the Council noted with grave concern that these institutions had not obtained any No Objection Certificate (NoC) or permission to award degrees and were, therefore, playing with the careers of the students.

The Council has also issued the list of these unrecognised medical colleges and asked their administrations not to admit any student prior to getting the degree-awarding status.

The list of the medical colleges in the public sector, which have not been approved are: Sukkur Medical College, Sukkur, Saidu Sharif Medical College, Swat, Gomal Medical College, Dera Ismail Khan, Sialkot Medical College, Sialkot, Services Medical Institution, PGMI, Lahore, Shaikh Zayed Medical College, Rahim Yar Khan.

The list of medical college in the private sector, which have not been recognised are: Abbottabad International Medical College, Abbottabad, Jinnah Institute of Medical Sciences, Peshawar, Al-Huda Medical College, Lahore, University of Faisalabad Medical and Dental College, Faisalabad, Independent Medical College, Faisalabad, University College of Medicine & Dentistry, Lahore, Islamabad Medical & Dental College, Islamabad.
