Man sets estranged wife on fire

MULTAN: A man burnt his estranged wife in Khanewal on Monday after she refused to reconcile with him.

Umer Farooq, a resident of Sahiwal, came to his in-laws’ house in Khanewal to bring back his wife, Ayesha Bashir, who had been living with her parents for the last few days.

She told the police she had left Umer’s house as he used to torture her frequently. She said when she refused to go with Umer, he threw kerosene on her and set her on fire. Ayesha received burns on her wrist and shoulder and she was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Khanewal. Her condition was stated to be out of danger.

Khanewal City police lodged a case against Umer.
