JUI-S asked to revisit MMA revival decision

KARAK: The local chapter of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Sami (JUI-S) has expressed reservations over the possible revival of the religious parties’ alliance Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA), and asked the party’s central leadership to revisit its decision.

The demand was made at a meeting of JUI-S’s district executive committee here on Monday chaired by its president Maulana Sabz Ali. Former MNA Maulana Shah Abdul Aziz Mujahid and workers of the party also attended the meeting.

The meeting also finalised the names for the party’s general secretaries for Karak, Takht-i-Nusrati and Banda Daud Shah tehsils. The party leaders recalled that in the last government of MMA the then chief minister Akram Khan Durrani had adopted an unfair attitude with the workers of JUI-S, and also ignored Karak in uplift projects.

They added the then MMA candidate for National Assembly Maulana Shah Abdul Aziz was not supported by the JUI-F workers and they fielded their own candidate against the MMA’s nominee.

They expressed fear that again the larger parties of the alliance would exploit the support of JUI-S and would not give due respect to its workers.

They said they had written a letter to the party’s central leadership, urging it to reject the decision regarding revival of MMA.

They insisted the JUI-S should go into next elections without any alliance.
