Faisal and Arshad elected unopposed

LAHORE, Aug 25: Faisal Saleh Hayat and Arshad Khan Lodhi have been elected unopposed president and secretary of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) with their entire panel as no request for any change was received by the federation on Monday.

The last date to withdraw the nomination was Aug 25 but no request was received, therefore, the PFF announced Faisal’s group as successful.

The PFF general council, however, will give the formal approval to the new office-bearers in its meeting scheduled to be held on Thursday.

Earlier, the PFF executive committee will be held on Wednesday.

But it is not confirmed whether the long-serving PFF president Mian Mohammad Azhar will preside it or not.

The PFF circles disclosed that Azhar was reluctant to preside over the meeting despite requested by some of the members elected for the fresh term of four years.

In case of Azhar’s refusal, Abbas Balouch who retained as vice-president is likely to chair the executive  committee meeting.

As the former senior-vice-president Saeed Khan (NWFP) and vice-president Ali Nawaz (PIA) had not been retained in the new PFF body.

Their arrival to Lahore to attend the executive committee meeting is doubtful and Abbas is the only next official to preside over the meeting.

Meanwhile, PIA had also withdrawn the nomination of Ali Nawaz and sent the new one of Col. (retd.) Mudassar Asghar.

The unopposed panel of Faisal is:

President: Faisal Saleh Hayat (Punjab).

Senior-vice-president: Syed Agha Liaqat Ali (Balochistan).

Vice-presidents: Abbas Balouch (Sindh), Zahir Shah (NWFP).

Secretary: Arshad Khan Lodhi (Punjab).

Associate-secretaries: Roonaq Ali Rajput (Sindh), Naseebullah Mirza (Balochistan).

Treasurer: Pervez Saeed Mir (Pakistan Air Force).

Executive committee members: Mohammad Ilyas (NWFP), Aziz Malik (Punjab), Shafi Akhwand (Sindh), Arif Mahmood (Army), Hafiz Sohaib Butt (Wapda).
