Justice Hamid Ali Mirza passes away

KARACHI: Former chief election commissioner and judge of the Supreme Court retired Justice Hamid Ali Mirza passed away on Monday. He was 75. He is survived by his wife and three daughters.

Justice Mirza served as the chief election commissioner from 2009 to 2012. Earlier, he retired as Supreme Court judge in 2005. He spent more than 50 years in judicial service.

During his career he remained district and sessions judge and Sindh High Court judge from 1995 to 2000 before being elevated as judge of the Supreme Court.

Mr Mirza’s funeral prayers would be held today (Tuesday) after Zuhr prayers at Sultan Masjid in DHA. His burial is due to take place in Gizri graveyard.
