THATTA, Aug 23: Pakistan Muslim League-Q MNA Syed Ayaz Ali Shah Shirazi has said elected representatives from Sindh will not betray the province by favouring construction of the Kalabagh dam and the greater Thal canal.
In a statement he delivered himself to journalists here on Friday, the MNA from Thatta regretted that the government had allocated billions of rupees for construction of the controversial water projects but it was reluctant to release funds for rehabilitation of rain victims of Sindh.
He wondered how the federal government expected any support for the projects from the people of Sindh in such circumstances.
He criticized Prime Minister Mir Zafrullah Khan Jamali for not considering reservations of Sindh in this regard.
He said the attitude of the prime minister towards Sindh, ban on recruitment and the insistence on construction of the projects had prevailed a sense of deprivation among the people of the province and youths were committing suicide.
Mr Shirazi said elected representatives from Sindh carried no weight in Islamabad and they even could not get a mobile credit officer of their province transferred.
Mr Shirazi also accused Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar of favouritism, saying he was always engaged in accommodating his friends instead of serving the people.
He said Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad was not acting as the governor of Sindh but of a particular class.
He observed that owing to the situation his group of nine MNAs has decided not to advise the chief minister on any issue.
He said the group would address a press conference on Sindh issues during the ongoing session of the National Assembly.
