11 kidnapped in tribal row near Kashmor

SUKKUR, Jan 5: Eleven persons, majority of them Bugti tribesmen, were kidnapped allegedly by armed persons of Mazari tribe on Friday night from the border area of Sindh and Punjab, some 30km away from Kashmor.

After the incident, tension prevailed in the area and about 100 Bugti tribesman blocked Kashmor-Rujhan road which disrupted the traffic flow.

Those kidnapped included four employees of the PPL identified as Tahir Mohammad, Mehmood, Haji Ahmed, Bisal Bugti, and others.

ASP Kashmor told newsmen that the incident occurred in the jurisdiction of Punjab province therefore Sindh police was helpless.

However Sindh police was trying to prevent the escalation of tension among the two groups and the elders of Bugti and Mazari tribes were contacted to make efforts to resolve the issue, he added.

Bugti and Mazari tribesmen run Reti Bajri business in the area and the dispute is said to have started over loading of the trucks some two days ago.

Bugti tribesmen kidnapped labourers of Mazari tribe which enraged Mazaris and they stopped the Bugtis from loading trucks and took away their three trucks.

Later Mazaris also took away a wagon (GE-7688) along with its passengers including Bugti tribesmen and the PPL workers.

According to sources, Rujhan taluka Nazim and other influential persons of Mazari and Bugti tribes are trying to resolve the dispute.

DSP RETIRED: DSP Sadhoja, Pehelwan Chachar, was forcibly retired by DIG Sukkur range on Friday for leaking the information of police movement to dacoits which led to the bandits’ ambush on a police party in which six policemen were killed.

Sources said that action would also be taken against other police officials involved in the incident.

According to details the then SSP Sukkur Munir Ahmed Chishti with Rangers Commander went to inspect the newly established police posts in kutcha area of Pano Aqil.

While he was on way the dacoits hiding along road side ambushed the SSP’s vehicle in which six policemen were killed. However the SSP who was the main target of the dacoits narrowly escaped unhurt.

After the incident, the Sindh IGP constituted an inquiry team, which after thorough investigation submitted a preliminary findings that some of the police officials including DSP Sadhoja, Pahelwan Chachar, were involved in the conspiracy as they leaked the information of the movement of the police party to the dacoits.

The DIG Sukkur on a query said that action would soon be taken against other police officials involved in the incident.
