PESHAWAR, Aug 22: Archeologists have demanded  of  the government to establish museums of archaeology and ethnology at district level to portray the national heritage in a befitting manner, said a press release here on Friday.

The demand was made through a unanimous resolution adopted by the participants at the concluding session of the 7th National Seminar on Pakistan Archaeology here at the Bara Gali,  Summer Camp of the University of Peshawar from Aug 18 to 20. It also demanded that archaeology should be included in syllabus of colleges and schools of the country.

On the last day of the seminar, senior joint secretary of the minorities, culture, sports, tourism and youth affairs, Ismail Hassan Niazi was chief guest, who said that despite meagre resources, the government was trying its level best to preserve, protect and project the rich cultural heritage of the country.

Through another resolution, it was demanded that the subject of archaeology should also be included in the syllabus of the competitive examinations and Army Education Corp. It was also demanded that the directorates of archaeology and museums should be strengthened by creating new posts and lifting of ban on fresh recruitments.
