JUI-F hopeful about Majlis-i-Amal revival

SWABI: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl provincial chief Maulana Gul Naseeb Khan has said his party’s leadership is hopeful about the revival of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, a defunct alliance of religio-political groups, before the 2018 general elections.

He was addressing a party’s gathering at Dagai seminary on Saturday, where religious leader Maulana Hamadullah Jan Baba, JUI-F district president Attaul Haq Darvaish and former minister Ghafoor Khan Jadoon were also present.

Maulana Gul said all religio-political parties felt the need for the revival of the MMA and therefore, his party’s leadership was hopeful that the alliance would soon be functional again.

“We are confident that the MMA will become a powerful political force once again,” he said.

The JUI-F said his party was ready to make electoral alliance with political parties.

He asked party leaders and activists to prepare for the next elections.

Maulana Gul said the eradication of corruption was a must for the country’s economic stability and therefore, the corrupt people should be dealt with strictly.

“We want across-the-board accountability and that, too, from the early days of the country,” he said.

The JUI-F leader demanded reforms in the National Accountability Bureau laws for the punishment of corrupt leaders and officials.

MNA’S VISIT RESENTED: The people of Gandaf area on Saturday criticised local MNA Aqibullah Khan for visiting the area a month after the outbreak of chikungunya.

They told reporters here that the lawmaker should’ve visited the area soon after the viral disease broke out to ensure the provision of the best possible facilities to the people, but ironically, he took a long time to do so.

When contacted, the local PTI leaders said MNA Aqibullah had ordered the dispatch of health teams to Gandaf area for the prevention and control of chikungunya and directed Swabi’s deputy commissioner and district health officer to ensure the immediate provision of required facilities to the patients.
