Jamali calls for politics of understanding

ISLAMABAD Aug 20: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has said his government firmly believed in the politics of decency and understanding and will continue to strive for the survival and strengthening of democracy.

He was speaking to the parliamentary party meeting of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League (Q) and its allies at the Parliament House before the start of National Assembly session on Wednesday afternoon.

The meeting was attended by MNAs belonging to the coalition parties. Prominent among the participants were PML-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, PPP Patriots president Rao Sikandar Iqbal, Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s parliamentary leader Syed Safwanullah, PPP (Sherpao) president Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, National Alliance’s Abdul Qudus Raja and others.

The prime minister expressed the hope that the opposition would adopt a positive attitude and cooperate with the government in running the parliament.

He said people expected their representatives to play a positive role and were unhappy with politics of agitation. He said his government was making efforts for the consolidation of economy and resolution of people’s problems.

The members from allied parties, on this occasion, expressed their desire to run the house in the best manner and criticized the opposition’s role.

They stressed on bringing legislative work in the parliament and taking the house business forward despite the negative attitude of the opposition.

Everyone of us should fulfil his constitutional and legal responsibilities, they added.

APP ADDS: Minister of State for Minorities, Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth Affairs Rais Munir Ahmad presented a cheque of Rs10 million to Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali for Prime Minister’s flood fund for the affected people of Balochistan and Sindh.

Rais Munir Ahmad thanked the prime minister for his personal efforts and eagerness to help the people in their time of distress.

The prime minister appreciated the generous efforts made by the minister.
