Uplift projects worth Rs14bn approved

PESHAWAR: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) on Wednesday approved 15 projects with an estimated cost of Rs14.866 billion.

A statement issued here said the forum met under the chairmanship of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa acting additional chief secretary Shahab Ali Shah.

The forum considered 19 projects pertaining to different sectors and approved 15 of them, while four projects were deferred due to inadequate designs.

The approved projects included construction and improvement of Sigram bypass road in Swat; rehabilitation of disaster-affected water supply schemes in the province; construction of degree colleges in Darora and Mandani areas of Charsadda, a girls degree college in Ayun area of Chitral and improving the Stori the Pakhtunkhwa programme; establishment of girls cadet college in Mardan, a government girls higher secondary school in Hisara Nehri area of Charsadda, a government higher secondary school in Tangi tehsil of Charsadda; establishment of 500 IT laboratories in government schools; and carrying out feasibility and improvement of Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium in Peshawar.

The meeting also approved construction of 356 mini/micro hydropower stations with total capacity of 35.6MW.
