PESHAWAR, Aug 19: A two-member bench of the Peshawar High Court on Tuesday summoned a sub-inspector of Chamkani police station along with all the relevant record in a contempt of court case about the seizure of spare parts of motor cars by the police.

The bench comprising Chief Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan and Justice Qaim Jam Khan directed the sub-inspector Khalo Khan to appear on Wednesday along with the record of depositing the said spare parts in the customs warehouse.

The bench issued the orders after a moharrir of the Chamkani police station informed the court that they could not return the spare parts to its owner as they had deposited it in the customs warehouse.

The petitioner Rizwanullah Khan, who is a spare parts dealer, had earlier filed a writ petition before the PHC after the local police had raided an inn in Chamkani area three years ago and had taken away motor car spare parts worth Rs9,00,000. He claimed that the said spare parts were legally imported and were not illegal.

His writ petition was accepted few months back and the high court had directed the Chamkani police to return the spare parts. The petitioner has now filed a contempt of court petition, stating that for the last three months he had been visiting the police station, but the SHO said Mr Wahab was not returning the spares.

When the SHO appeared before the court he stated that he was not aware about the spare parts as he was recently transferred.
