KARACHI, Aug 16: An uneasy calm prevailed at Karachi University campus on Saturday following confrontation between rival student groups for the past two days.
A varsity official and senior faculty members said that owing to the tension the attendance at the campus remained thin on Saturday.
Classes were held as usual, but were attended by a fewer students, it was further stated.
Meanwhile, the KU Registrar Fahimuddin has got registered an FIR against 13 students, on the charges of creating law and order situation at the campus.
He said these students were nabbed by the Rangers at the campus and handed over to the Mobina Town police station.
Mr Fahimuddin expressed desire on behalf of the varsity administration that the rival student groups, belonging to Punjabi Students Association (PSA) and the Islami Jamiat-i-Tulaba (IJT), should resolve their differences through peaceful negotiations.—APP
