LAHORE, Aug 16: Punjab Chief Secretary Hafeez Akhtar Randhawa has urged the University of Health Sciences to make necessary changes in its examination and evaluation system to make its degrees more credible within and outside the country.

Speaking at a meeting of the university’s academic council on Saturday, he asked the UHS to ensure centralized paper marking and provision of special furniture to the candidates (appearing in examinations) to help them keep answer sheets hidden.

He said the university would ensure the same standard of education in all the medical institutions in the province. Only those medical institutions, which had been fulfilling the prescribed procedures, would be affiliated with the university, he added.

Earlier, Mr Randhawa was briefed on the examination system, including paper setting and marking, record keeping and computerized mechanism of allotting fictitious roll numbers to answer sheets. Future academic plan of the university was also explained to him. UHS Board of Governors chairman Prof Mahmood Ahmad Chaudhry and vice-chancellor briefed him on the functioning of various departments. — Staff Reporter
