At least 35 activists affiliated with the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM), a consortium of Sindhi nationalist and some separatist groups, announced to quit the party during the last 24 hours.

The development surfaced amid an unannounced operation against separatist elements in various areas of the province. The leaders announced their decision to shun the separatist lines and join the mainstream politics in three separate press conferences in Badin, Golarchi and Matli.

Senior Sindhi nationalist leader Javed Ahmed Memon, along with a group of other leaders, held a press conference at Golarchi, Mumtaz Ali Zaur and another bunch of JSQM leaders at Badin, whereas, Mohammad Ali Khaskheli, Babu Brohi, Ghulam Akbar and others held a presser at Matli.

Expressing their disapproval to the separatist movement, the leader said that they were fed up with the separatist and Sindhi nationalistic politics and now wanted to join the struggle for the betterment of the country.

They confessed that they were making no service to the people of their fellow citizens. They also advised youngsters to quit the politics of the separatism, which according to them, was an illusion under the current situations.

They criticised the struggle for the creation of "Sindhu Desh" and observed that opportunist leaders were only exploiting the people of the province and particularly the students in the colleges and universities. They appealed the people of Sindh not to believe the so-called Sindhi nationalist leaders, who according to them, were only busy in following their petty interests.

Earlier, senior Sindhi nationalist leader and close aide of late GM Syed, Ustad Mohammad Rahimoon, who was whisked away by suspected people from his house in a pre-dawn raid at his house in Kario Ghanwar town of Badin district on November 23, 2016, also announced to quit politics.

Following his release from a three-month long detention, Rahimoon who is respected by all factions of the Jeay Sindh movement and was the convener of the proscribed Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM), had also announced to quit the Sindhi nationalistic politics in Golarchi town.

Several political analysts believed that the people parting ways with nationalists because of the ongoing alleged crackdown against them.

During last two months, more than 80 activists of such factions and the rights activists who were raising their voice against "forced disappearances" had been taken away allegedly by the security forces from Badin, Hyderabad, Tharparkar, Jamshoro, Mirpurkhas and other districts of the province.
