Sardar Ali Mohammad appointed Jattak tribe chief

QUETTA: Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri has said that traditions of brotherhood, tolerance, hospitality and respect for each other are the identity of Balochistan and it is the responsibility of all people to keep them alive.

Speaking at a ceremony held on Thursday to mark the appointment of Sardar Ali Mohammad Jattak as the new chief of the Jattak Baloch tribe, the chief minister said it was the responsibility of all Sardars to work for the welfare and development of their people.

He said that Sardar Asad Khan Jattak had set a good example by naming his son as the new Sardar of the Jattak tribe during his own life.Such steps helped avoid disputes.

The chief minister said that Allah had made tribes so that “we could identity each other and, therefore, we should keep our traditions and values intact by promoting love, brotherhood and tolerance in our society”.

“Today I am so glad that we are promoting centuries-old tradition which dates back to the period of Khan Naseer Khan Noori,” Mr Zehri said.

He expressed the hope that the newly nominated Sardar of the Jattak tribe would play his role for the welfare of his people by following in the footsteps of his father and forefathers.

Earlier, the chief minister and other Baloch Sardars and notables placed a turban on the head of newly nominated Sardar in accordance with the Baloch tradition and congratulated him for assuming the new responsibility.

Senator Mir Naimatullah Zehri, representative of the Khan of Kalat Prince Yaya Jan, MPA Prince Ahmed Ali Baloch and Sardar and notables hailing from Jhalawan area of Baloch­istan attended the ceremony.
