Mardan district council approves budget

MARDAN: Mardan district council unanimously approved Rs9.9 billion budget for the financial year 2017-18, during a session here on Friday.

The meeting chaired by convener Asad Ali Kashmiri was also attended by district nazim Himayatullah Mayar and opposition leader Shahid Bacha.

Members, including women, from ANP, PTI, JUI-F, PPP, PML-N and other political parties gave different proposals and suggestions to be included in the budget.

An amount of Rs488 million has been allocated for developmental schemes. Similarly, Rs330 million have been allocated for non-development purposes.

On the occasion, Mr Mayar Advocate thanked all the council members for unanimously passing the budget.

He said the district Mardan was like their own home and that they should set aside their political differences just for the sake of prosperity and development of the district with positive thinking.

He claimed that the district government had allocated Rs10.5 million to be given to the brilliant students of matriculation and FA/FSc, both from the government and private schools.

Mr Mayar said the district government had decided to provide free school uniforms and stationery to students of all union councils of the district from the district government fund.
