QUETTA: An anti-terrorism court of Quetta and judicial magistrate remanded on Thursday Abdul Majeed Achakzai, a member of the Balochistan Assembly, into police custody for another seven days each in two cases.

Police produced MPA Achakzai in the court of Judicial Magistrate Shahnawaz Langove after completion of a five-day remand handed down to him for allegedly causing the death of traffic sergeant Haji Attaullah Dashti by running his vehicle over him.

The judicial magistrate remanded the legislator for further seven days into police custody.

Police also produced the suspect before the judge of Quetta’s anti-terrorism court, Dawood Khan Nasar, in a kidnapping case registered at the Satellite Town police station in 2009.

Police officials requested the court for grant of physical remand of the MPA in the case and the ATC judge remanded him into police custody for seven days.

Police arrested MPA Achakzai on June 24 for allegedly running his vehicle over Mr Dashti on June 20 while the policeman was performing his duty at the GPO Chowk.
