PESHAWAR, Aug 7: A juvenile court on Thursday convicted two boys of drug pushing and sentenced them to five-year imprisonment each with a fine of Rs5,000 each.
However, the court presided over by district and sessions judge Hayat Ali Shah, released the boys, Safeer Khan and Anwar Shah, on probation after their guardians gave an undertaking of their good behaviour in the future.
The court ordered that the boys should be admitted to schools.
The guardians were asked to report to the probation officers regularly about the activities of the boys.
The boys were arrested by Pishtakhara police on June 10, 2002, on the Bara road. The police had recovered 2kg of heroin from Anwar Shah and 5.5kg of charas from Safeer Khan. They were charged under Section 9 of the Control of Narcotics Substances Act, 1997.
Their counsel contended that they were never involved in any crime in the past.—Bureau
