SHEIKHUPURA: The Bhikki power plant could not become operational by Wednesday, a week after it developed a technical fault.

Official sources said the plant had stopped contributing 660 megawatts of electricity to the national grid a week ago. The Pakistani and Chinese engineers working to fix the issue could not succeed in doing so. Eventually, the government had to call German experts to rectify the fault, the sources revealed.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had inaugurated the plant on April 19, which developed the technical issue in the initial stage of its operations.
