Surgeries under mobile phone light

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Unbridled loadshedding has created problems for people especially surgeons who are forced to operate upon patients under makeshift arrangements.

As Ghazi Medical College’s teaching hospital plunged into darkness due to erratic generators on Tuesday, surgeons had to conduct two operations under the light of mobile phone cameras during loadshedding.

Commenting on the situation, a doctor said the operation theatres must have independent power supply system.

Medical Superintendent Dr Attiqur Rehman Chishti, while confirming that two operations were conducted under the mobile phone light, said the matter was brought to the knowledge of the commissioner and the deputy commissioner for the provision of a generator for operation theatres.
