PPP to contest NA-260 by-poll

QUETTA: The president of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Balochistan, Ali Madad Jattak, has said that his party will contest the by-election for NA-260, the Chagai-cum-Quetta constituency that fell vacant after the death of Abdul Rahim Mandokhel last week.

Mr Mandokhel had won the seat on the ticket of Pakhtunkhawa Milli Awami Party in the 2013 general elections.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Mr Jattak said the consistency belonged to the PPP as its candidate Sardar Omer Gorgage had been elected with a big margin from there in the 2008 elections.

Referring to the recent kidnapping of two Chinese nationals in Quetta’s Jinnah Town, he said his party condemned the incident and added that the abduction had exposed tall claims of the government about restoring law and order in the province.

About the federal budget, the PPP leader said the government had given no relief to the poor.

He said the government had burdened the masses with taxes but given relief and incentives to industrialists.
