MUZAFFARABAD, Aug 3: A former district councillor was shot dead by five highwaymen on Saturday night in the southern Mirpur district, police sources said.
The victim, Chaudhry Mohammad Deen, was driving his vehicle when the masked robbers intercepted him near Chak Saghir and shot him dead on offering resistance.
Earlier, the dacoits had also looted some other vehicles on that road.
A police party, led by SP Raja Munawwar Iqbal, arrived at the scene and arrested two dacoits after shootout. One of them was identified as Mohammad Javed, resident of Pindi Saman, district Gujrat.
MAN KILLS SISTER: A man, Abdul Kabir, shot his sister dead on Sunday in Samahni town in the southernmost Bhimbher district. The victim was identified as Samina Bibi. Police have arrested the accused.
