BADIN, Aug 3: Fish and poultry farms of the district have badly incurred losses in the coastal areas of Badin district during the torrential rains.
This correspondent visited the areas of Kadhan, Seernai, Shadi Large and Shaheed Fazil Rahu where he learnt that as many as 1,500 fish ponds and 100 poultry farms had been destroyed. Most of the fish farms belonged to Jamali tribesmen.
Poultry farms in Union Council Nindo Shehar, Union Council Kadhan, Union Council Mithi, and Ahmed Raho were completely destroyed where thousands of chickens had died.
GASTROENTERITIS: At least 1o people died of gastroenteritis and numerous others were admitted to government hospitals and private dispensaries ever since the disease broke out in the area.
Four people identified as Haji Soomar, 45; Mehral, 40; Rehmat, 30; and Nazeeran, 1, died of gastroenteritis. They all belonged to the Baghly Sharif village, Jhol Deh, Shaheed Fazil Rahu Taluka.
A villager, Juman Mallah, said that no official or relief team had visited the area where at least 300 families were stranded.
Six people died of gastroenteritis in the Shadi Large area. Their names could not be ascertained.
Many people suffering from the disease had been admitted to the Khoski and Nindo hospitals.
CONJUNCTIVITIS: Many people were suffering from conjunctivitis in the district.
