Parts of Karachi again plunge into darkness as K-Electric fails to supply power

A larger part of Karachi again plunged into darkness on Thursday as the K-Electric's power plant in Bin Qasim reportedly developed faults.

Old city areas were among the most affected areas whereas several areas across the city, including Shah Faisal Colony and New Karachi, also reported massive power outage.

According to the statistics, being provided by KE, the demand for electricity in the city was almost 2,950 megawatt, whereas available electricity was 2,375mw, showing a shortfall of 575mw.

It was for the second time in the week when the KE's power plant developed faults. Four major breakdowns have been reported in the city during last 22 days.

KE officials have claimed that the issue has been resolved and the power supply has started to restore.
