NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Aug 2: Four people were killed and 16 injured in a collision between a bus and a pick-up on the National Highway near Moro early Saturday morning.
Jalal Sasoli, 35, a resident of Jacobabad; Abdul Sattar, 13, a resident of Muzaffargarh; and Ahmad Ali, a resident of Kasur, were killed on the spot when a Punjab-bound bus (RPT-4376), coming from Karachi, collided head-on with a pick-up (PG-289) near a petrol pump.
Basit Ali, Waseem, Ataullah, Bashir Ahmad, Mohammad Ismail, Ata Mohammad Jatoi, Arif, Raheem Bux, Abdul Aziz Chachar, Yasir, Qayyum Chachar, Abdul Razzaq, Ilahi Bux, Farooq, Arif Hussain, Ameer Ali and Inayatullah were injured in the accident.
Basit, Waseem and Ataullah, 13, were taken to the Nawabshah Civil Hospital where Ataullah died and the other two boys are said to be in critical condition.
The rest of the injured were taken to the Moro Taluka Hospital. The police have registered a case.
Drivers of both the vehicles escaped.
PROCESSION: About 400 Rind tribesmen took out a procession here on Saturday against Hesco officials to protest against the death of two youths who were electrocuted few days back.
The protesters, including activists of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, Sindh Saghar Party and the Pakistan Muslim League-Q, also blocked the National Highway and Tharushah-Naushahro Feroze and Naushahro Feroze-Padidan-Mithiani link roads for three hours.
They said two youths of the Rind tribe were electrocuted when a wire fell on the road but the police registered a case of accidental death.
They demanded compensation for the victims’ families.The Naushahro Feroze Hesco executive engineer reached the spot and assured the protesters that action would be taken against company officials if they were found responsible for the incident.
