THATTA, Aug 1: The Pakistan People’s Party will take up the issues, including the devastation caused by unprecedented rains, breaches in drains and canals and sea water intrusion in the coastal areas of Thatta and Badin, in the provincial assembly.
This was stated by leader of the opposition in the Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro while speaking at a press conference here on Friday after visiting the rain-hit coastal areas of Keti Bunder and Kharo Chhan.
He said that the PPP would also sue the Sindh government for what he termed criminal negligence in this regard, adding that it had cause such a large number of casualties and large-scale destruction.
He said that i f nothing was done to provide relief to the rain victims, the party would have no option but to institute cases against the Sindh government.
Praising efforts of the PPP MPA, Sassui Palejo, he said that if she had not forcibly gotten the gates of the Ghorabari outfall drain open on Thursday night, thousands of people would have been carried away by violent oceanic tides.
Stressing the need for providing relief to the people in Thatta and Badin districts, he said that the people needed waiver on loans, relief in taxes, including revenue and abiana, adding that these districts had been economically devastated.
