Noted TV actor passes away

Syed Shahenshah

PESHAWAR: Senior radio and TV artist, Syed Shahenshah, passed away here on Thursday. He was 68.

Mr Shahenshah had been suffering from multiple health complications for the last over two decades. Being issueless, he left behind a widow. He was laid to rest in his village graveyard. A large number of artists, writers and local notables attended his funeral. Born in 1949 at Dhaki Mirababd village in Tangi, he had grown up with love for acting.

After doing his master’s in Pashto literature from the University of Peshawar as a private candidate, he had launched his acting career from a Pashto play at Peshawar radio station in 1974. He had got retirement from cooperative societies as assistant director. His popular plays included ‘Sahar, Tasha Julai, Lambey, Swaal, Da Manzal pa Lore, Duwayem Noom, Azmaikht and Kagay Laray’.

According to Laiaqzada Laiq, poet and regional director, Radio Pakistan, Peshawar, Mr Shahenshah had performed in around 200 radio, stage and TV plays. He said that Shahenshah used to play as villain in most plays and had garnered a widespread fame for his fine dialogue delivery and expressions.
