Sharif, COAS review border situation

ISLAMABAD: With tensions between Pakistan and India over the death sentence to Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav running high, Chief of the Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday to discuss “current security and border situation”.

However, a statement issued by the Prime Minister House did not mention anything about the Indian spy, his government’s subsequent reaction to the death sentence handed down by a military tribunal to him or the recent disappearance of a retired Pakistan Army official in Nepal.

It said that the meeting discussed matters pertaining to professional preparedness of the army and the security and border situation of the country.

The COAS apprised the prime minister of the progress made in the ongoing Operation Raddul Fasaad, it said, adding that Mr Sharif expressed satisfaction over the gains made in the counterterrorism operation.
