PESHAWAR, July 29: The Peshawar High Court on Tuesday released a person charged in a honour-related double murder case after he paid a compensation amounting to Rs190,000 to the legal heirs of the deceased.
The accused, Gul Noor, had killed his wife, and a man, Gul Janan, accusing them of committing adultery. He had earlier been acquitted by the trial court after a compromise was reached between the two families. The accused, Gul Noor, was released from prison but he had not deposited the said amount in the court. Ms Aqal Meena, wife of the deceased had filed an appeal before the high court, praying that his acquittal should be set aside as he had not deposited the money. He was again arrested last year.
