PESHAWAR, July 28: The Class-IV government employees continued their strike in all departments for the third consecutive day throughout the province on Monday to press the government for the acceptance of their demands.

According to a press release of the All Class-IV Government Employees Association, NWFP, the low-paid government employees stopped working in different departments throughout the province and held protest meetings to press the government to accept their demands.

The association leaders in their protest meetings demanded of the government to recruit a deceased employee’s son on his place, increase medical allowance, uniform allowance, increase in salaries on a par with price of one tola of gold, provision of the residential quarters, restoration of advance qualification increment, promotion to next grade on the basis of qualification and uniformed service condition for Class-IV employees in all government departments.

They said that the Class-IV employees had been forced to go on strike as the present government, like the past governments, had failed to solve their problems despite making promises on several occasions.

Meanwhile, the general secretary of the association, Abdus Sattar Hoti, in a press statement expressed willingness to hold talks with the government on all these issues.
