FAISALABAD, July 27: Representatives of the All Pakistan Sizing Industries Association (APSIA) will hold talks with the Central Board of Revenue high-ups in Islamabad on Monday (today), it was learnt.
CBR chairman Riaz Malik had invited the association to discuss ‘disputed’ taxation policies.
Headed by APSIA Chairman Mirza Muhammad Shafique, a committee has been constituted for the talks. Shahbaz Kissana, Irshad Ahmad, Haleem Aslam Malik, Talib Rana, Mian Manzoor and Riaz Sehgal are members of the committee.
APSIA leaders said here on Sunday that strike would continue till the acceptance of their demands.
Owners of over 400 sizing units have been observing strike for the last one week against taxation policies like Section 40-B of the Sales Tax Act.
ROOF COLLAPSE: A worker was killed while another was injured when roof of a factory caved-in in Samundari Road area here on Saturday night.
According to details, a dozen workers were working in a hall of a powerloom factory when its roof caved in.
As a result, Aqeel Ahmed and Afzal were injured seriously. Aqeel died in hospital due to excessive bleeding while the condition of Afzal was stated to be critical.
IMPERSONATOR HELD: A man was arrested from Jhang Bazar on Sunday for impersonating an army officer.
Saeed who was in the uniform of a colonel demanded money from some shopkeepers of Jhang Bazar. One shopkeeper informed the area police who arrested the accused. The accused was sent to jail after registration of a case against him.
