PESHAWAR: Former federal minister Anwar Saifullah Khan has been appointed as member of central executive committee of Pakistan People’s Party following his meeting with the party chairman.
He is the seventh member of PPP central executive committee.
The announcement was made through a statement in Peshawar following his meeting with PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in Islamabad on Monday. His son Senator Usman Saifullah Khan is also provincial deputy general secretary of PPP.
Anwar Saifullah also served PPP as its provincial president. He was replaced by Senator Khanzada Khan. Currently, Eng Humayun Khan is heading the party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
A source told Dawn that six senior leaders were already members of CEC from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
They include former governor Barrister Masood Kausar, former provincial senior minister Rahimdad Khan, Senator Khanzada Khan, former federal minister Lal Mohammad Khan, former Peshawar district nazim Azam Afridi and Begum Shahzada Suleman.
Meanwhile, according to a party spokesman a meeting of the provincial cabinet of PPP will be held at 11 am at its provincial secretariat in Peshawar on Wednesday. The meeting will discuss various issues, especially reorganisation of the party.
