GUJRANWALA, July 26: The government and judiciary should find the root cause of Sialkot incident before taking any action against anybody as such incidents always occurred when the door of justice are closed to people and their basic rights are usurped.
This was stated by former minister Barrister Usman Ibrahim here on Saturday.
He said the Sialkot incident was a no-confidence against the government and judiciary and it was the time that the government should restore the basic rights of the common man and provide justice to all.
A District Bar Association press release alleged that the jail officials were involved in the incident.
They should be arrested following registration of criminal case against them.
Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Khwaja Tahir Hasan termed the incident lack of security inside jail and demanded an impartial inquiry.
He said where the judges were not safe, what to speak of the common man. Punjab PML-N chief organizer and former minister Ghulam Dastgir Khan asked the government to resign after the incident as it has failed to protect the lives of judges.
He was speaking at an emergency meeting held on Saturday to review the Sialkot killings.
He said it was the second major incident after the Quetta carnage.
He said people were feeling insecure while the government was constituting committees for inquiry to hoodwink them.
He demanded that the inquiry report should be tabled before national and provincial assemblies to discuss it thoroughly so that administrative loopholes could be disclosed. Mr Khan said the Sialkot incident belied the government claim that peace had been restored to the country.
