LAHORE: Discarded Test wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan was named captain of the 15-member Pakistan U-23 squad announced on Tuesday for this month’s ACC Emerging Cup.

Chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq announced the squad for the event which is scheduled to be held in Bangladesh from March 26 to April 2.

Middle-order batsman Haris Sohail, who has recovered from his chronic knee problems, was appointed as deputy to 24-year-old Rizwan who has so far played a Test, 25 ODIs and 10 T20 Internationals for Pakistan.

Eight teams — U-23 squads of Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh — plus national teams from Afghanistan, Nepal, Malaysia and Hong Kong will feature in the Emerging Cup.

Pakistan’s squad will leave for Bangladesh on March 24.
