KARACHI, July 26: A man killed his wife inside his home in Korangi on Saturday on suspicion of infidelity.
Police said Mohammad Ilyas, resident of Sector-33/C, Korangi No-2 1/2, had been suspecting his wife, Zahida, 30, for having an extra-marital affair with a stranger. This had led to frequent arguments and domestic disputes between the husband and wife. On Saturday, Ilyas, in a fit of rage, throttled his wife to death.
Police shifted the body to a hospital for autopsy and arrested Ilyas.
ACCIDENT: Two people died in two separate road accidents here on Saturday.
A man was killed and another got injured when their motorcycle was hit by a water tanker near Submarine intersection in Defence.
Defence police said that Nadeem Akhtar and his friend Manzoor Hussain were on a motorcycle, when a water tanker knocked them down. Nadeem died on the spot and Manzoor was injured. The dead and the injured were shifted to JPMC.
In Korangi, a man was crushed to death by an unidentified vehicle. Police said that Javed, 20, was crossing a road near Chamra Chowrangi, when he was knocked down to death. The man was shifted to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
SUICIDE: A former bank official committed suicide at his home in Buffer Zone on Saturday.
Police said Murtaza Aziz, 50, a retired bank official, consumed a heavy doze of some poisonous stuff at his home in Sir Syed Town police limits and fell unconscious. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The causes that led Murtaza to commit suicide could not be known.
ELECTROCUTED: A man was killed in a rain-related incident on Saturday in Frere police limits in Clifton.
Police said Noor Aslam, 18, had accidentally touched a snapped wire in Frere police limits, and died on the spot. His body was shifted to JPMC for autopsy.
ROBBERIES: Seven robberies were committed on Saturday in various localities of the metropolis on Saturday.
Robbers stormed into Athar Alam’s house in Surjani Town, made the inmates hostage at gunpoint. They collected cash, jewellery, mobile phone set, wristwatches and other valuables and fled away with the loot.
Dacoits raided the house of Najeebullah in Orangi extension, made the family hostage at gunpoint and managed to escape with cash, jewellery, a television set, and other valuables.
Some thieves entered into the shop of Mohammad Abdullah in Sachal police limits and decamped with Rs28,000 and other items.
Four bandits entered in the house of Kashif Jamshed in Al- Falah Society at gunpoint. They collected cash, jewellery and other valuables and escaped.
Three armed men intruded the house of Nek Mohammad in Baloch Colony, held the family hostage at gunpoint. After collecting cash, jewellery, and other valuables, they fled away with the loot.
Shamaon reported to Gizri police alleging that his domestic servant Pervez decamped with cash, foreign currency, jewellery and other valuables.
Two robbers trespassed the house of Rafiq Khan at gunpoint, and disappeared with Rs15,000 and other valuables.
