KARACHI, June 26: The Muttahidda Qaumi Movement legislators on Saturday deplored the uncalled for increase in electricity tariff for KESC consumers which was five times more than Wapda’s.
They condemned the Nepra permission to KESC for increasing the power tariff by 14 paisa per unit.
The Karachiites, they said, had already been suffering from prolonged power outages and low voltage and the increase in power tariff amounts to extending a step-motherly treatment to them.
They urged the prime minister to get the order reversed.
Meanwhile, the MQM coordination committee has expressed deep concern and anxiety over the killing of judges by the prisoners who had made them hostage in Sialkot prison.
It demanded of the government to ensure security to the judges.
MQM chief Altaf Hussain has stressed the need for uprooting the age-old exploitative feudal system which, he said, was the root cause of Pakistan’s backwardness.
In a message on the sixth founding day of the Muttahidda, he called upon the party activists to work for the realisation of this objective without fear.
Mr Hussain recalled that operation was launched against the party for its “struggle against the exploitative system”.
