TIMERGARA: The members of Nursing Staff Association have threatened to take to streets if government fails to notify compensatory and risk allowances for them.
They demanded of the government, during a meeting of association held here with its provincial president Inayatul Haq in the chair, to notify the allowance.
The presidents and general secretaries of the association from various districts attended the meeting that was addressed by Inayatul Haq, Anwar Sultana, Malik Javed Iqbal, Bahar Khan and others.
Threaten protest for acceptance of demand
The speakers said that provincial government had announced compensatory allowance for nurses two years ago but the matter was being delayed owing to unknown reasons.
They alleged that health department wanted to deprive nurses of the allowance.
They said that nurses in other provinces were awarded risk allowance. They said that there were no service rules for nurses in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The speakers said that nurses would take to streets if their demand was not met.
VISIT: Deputy Commissioner Attaur Rehman on Tuesday directed the contractor to complete repair of Balambat irrigation channel within the stipulated time.
He along with district finance officer Roidar Ali paid a surprise visit to the channel and inspected the ongoing work on it.
Engineer Nasrullah told the deputy commissioner that Rs 16.8 million had been released for lining and repair work on the irrigation channel.
He said that the channel was irrigating 11,333 acres of land from Khall to Ghanam Shah Munda.
ACCIDENT: A man was killed and four others were injured when a car plunged into a ravine in Zanai Maidan area.
The deceased was identified as Kashif, a resident of Badhber in Peshawar. The injured including Ibrahim, Asad Ali, Hadi Hussain and Amanullah were shifted to district headquarters hospital in Timergara.
CARDS: The Adenzai tehsil council on Tuesday rejected distribution of ‘Sehat Sahulat Cards through the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and demanded of the government to include tehsil councillors in the process.
The council met with its convener Mudat Khan in the chair. Tehsil nazim Qamar Zaman, councillors Shafiqul Islam, Abdul Rashid, Abdul Salam, Taiseef Umar and others expressed reservations over mechanism of distribution of health cards.
They said that majority of deserving people would be deprived of the facility as the survey conducted by BISP had loopholes.
They demanded of the government to include elected councillors in distribution of cards.
