Ismaeel and Jan power Baloch to victory

KARACHI, July 25: Ismaeel Baba and Mohammad Jan ran riot by scoring dazzling hat tricks to power Baloch Mohammadan to a huge 9-1 victory over Bhutta Mohammadan in KASB Premier League on Friday.

The outright triumph has made the situation interesting as table-toppers Hyder Baloch with 21 points face a tough assignment ahead when they meet third placed Karachi United as they need at least a draw to lift the title.

A defeat against United means the issue will be settled on better goal average as Baloch Mohammadan, tied with 21 points, have scored 27 goals and conceded eight, while Hyderi Baloch netted 23 and five goals have been scored against them.

United, having 15 points, also needed a win to maintain their third position as LLWC, who are at fourth spot with 14 points, may deprive them from standing on the podium for bronze medal if they beat Mekran Sports.

Four-goal Ismaeel, the player of the match, started the blitz with a goal he scored 48 seconds after the first whistle, while Shah Nawaz got the consolation for Bhutta Mohammadan in the 9th minute at CDGK Stadium.

Ismaeel tore Bhutta Mohammadan apart with his dribbling runs and was on target for his second in the 12th minute, while completed his treble with a 46th-minute strike.

Ismaeel struck again in the 51st minute to get his fourth and the 15th goal in the league which was followed by Mohammad Jan’s exploits who slammed home his first in the 56th minute.

Yet there was no respite for hapless Bhutta Mohammadan as Mohammad Jan slotted home twice in a row in the 66th and 67th minutes to make it 7-1.

Abdul Samad hammered the last nail into Bhutta Mohammadan’s coffin with two back-to-back goals in the dying minutes.

Saturday’s fixtures: Usmanabad Union v Pakistan Petroleum at CDGK Stadium; LLWC v Mekran Sports at CDGK Stadium; Aga Khan Gymkhana v Nawab XI at AKG ground.
