KARACHI, July 24: The controversy in the flyweight bout in All Pakistan Junior Boxing between Army B’s Faheem Uddin and KPT’s Shahid Khan who was disqualified for throwing a punch at his rival when the referee had signalled him not to do so, took a new turn when the Jury banned the official Abdul Khaliq for one year.
KPT team manager, Shah Naeem Zafar, had lodged the protest on the referee’s decision that he did not stop the boxer on time. The KPT’s officials have expressed surprise on the decision took by the jury.
KPT’s official said on Thursday that the jury don’t have the power to ban the referee. However he said that there was no benefit to the boxer now.—PPI
